Now that we have a black President one must wonder, will we start seeing Latino Presidents in movies?
Before the days of Barack Obama, when it looked like an African-American President was the longest of long shots, Hollywood always seemed to make up for any perceived injustice by having a good number of movies where the Commander and Chief was a black man. In these movies, however, it seemed Hollywood was always putting these black Presidents in a position to fail. Check it:
Deep Impact- Morgan Freeman played President Tom Beck, who was serving his term while a planet killing asteroid is making its way to Earth.
24- Dennis Haysbert plays David Palmer, who has to face such challenges as getting assassinated and a nuclear bomb in LA.
Idiocracy- Terry Crews plays President Camacho, a former wrestler who leads a country that’s collective IQ is in the tank.
The 5th Element- Tommy Lister plays President Lindberg, and Earth faces the threat of destruction from a giant cosmic life extinguishing force that is simply called Evil.
Head of State- Chris Rock plays Mays Gilliam, an alderman who is used as a sacrificial lamb by the Democrats in the upcoming election, only he happens to win (Well I guess that is not so bad).
We can only hope Barack Obama has it easier than his fellow African-American Presidents did in their movies (and one TV show).
This leads us to our main topic. Since we finally have a black President, will Hollywood start installing Latinos into these Presidential roles? It is a real possibility and we decided to look into some of the leading candidates to be sworn in the Silver Screen.
Noel Gugliemi

Noel may look familiar to you even though you have no idea who he is. A quick scan of his IMDB profile reveled some of his prior movie roles:
- Warehouse Rooftop Hood
- Drug Dealer
- Gangster
- Prophets Gang Leader
- Bar Thug #2
- Latino Thug
- Hood
- Latino Convict
- Mexican Mafia Soldier
- Street Thug
Wow, can you say typecast? We're Not sure if even Hollywood is ready for Noel to be Commander and Chief.

Antonio Banderas
At age 48 Banderas is just a year older than President-Elect Obama, so he has the age. Banderas, however, seems more suited for an adventure role than President. We are unsure if the man who played Desperado, secret-agent Gregorio Cortez, Zorro and Puss In Boots would have the ability to handle anything diplomatically. Still, he could radiate a Presidential feel.
Rating (out of 50 stars): 36
John Leguizamo
Leguizamo is not a big time actor, but he has played such iconic rolls as Luigi (from Super Mario Bros fame) and Tybalt (from Romeo and Juliet fame). Leguizamo is a solid actor but he can’t carry a movie. Can’t see him being a President in any movie, but I could easily see him winning some sort of high ranking political position in Minnesota.

Rating (out of 50 stars): 23
Benicio Del Toro
Del Toro is still making movies but he seemed to have peaked earlier in this decade. He doesn’t look Presidential enough to merit any serious consideration.
Rating (out of 50 stars): 14
Martin Sheen
I bet you didn’t know Martin Sheen was Latino, did you? Well, his birth name is Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez. Sheen, of course, is best known for is role as President Jed Bartlet on the hit TV show The West Wing. I believe we have a hands down winner.
